Blade: Astra SP Full DE
Soap: TFS Granducato Toscano
Brush: Mac Metalworks purple heartwood 22mm knot
Post shave: witch hazel, PAA alum, Granducato Toscano aftershave and PAA Malbolge beard oil.
This particular Vanta shavette will take a full DE razor blade as well as half of a DE razor blade. This morning there was a full Astra SP blade on it's first use. The blade was installed with the number 1 being the cutting edge and tomorrow the blade will be flipped around where the number 2 will be the cutting edge. This is an easy way for me to remember what edge was last used when shaving at four in the morning. This Vanta shavette has a notched out area where the blade is exposed making it an "milder" shaver ... less likely that someone to cut themselves but not entirely impossible. A person could look at this shavette as one with training wheels. With the blade being in the notched out area, the toe and heel of the blade are not exposed making it easier for someone to learn with.
This soap and aftershave hit the spot this morning. TFS , Tcheon Fung Sing in my estimation make a mighty fine soap and aftershave. The scent of this particular soap and aftershave is along the rose and cedar line per my wife's nose. I just think it smells great. On the aftershave label is the scent profile which is something I like.
The shaving brush is one of my first brushes that I got that has an all wood handle, a purple heartwood handle with a 22mm synthetic knot. My experience has been that the 22mm knot seem to lather just a well as the 24mm knots which got me to wondering that maybe bigger isn't always better. Just a thought. Well my time is up, stay safe and smooth shaves.
